NEW VIDEO: GAVIN ROSSDALE. 'FOREVER MAY YOU RUN'

Published by Daniel on Thursday, April 30, Buzworthy

As you may recall, Tuesday’s Buzz Bites included this item: Gavin Rossdale, who continues to be inexplicably, unmanageably studly, has just released a solo video that uses the oldest trick in the book to up his man-babe factor. It stars his and Gwen Stefani’s 2-year-old son Kingston. Well, that wasn’t quite true.

It turns out, first of all, that Gavin Rossdale’s studliness needs no upping. The ex-Bush beefcake is topless for half of the video in question, and he’s in better shape than most sculptures. Secondly, Kingston is hardly a star, but he does flash his smushy, sweet little celebaby face at the 2:23 mark.

Now, on to the business at hand: Gavin Rossdale’s “Forever May You Run” video is awesome on a variety of levels. For one thing, It includes excessive running, and dude kiiinda runs like Steven Seagal. No offense Gavin. You look great.

Next, Gavin’s new video incorporates themes from all of your favorite movies. It opens with an angry Jerry Maguire-ish corporate walk-out, fades into a Forrest Gump running montage, which gives way to a dangerous Lord Of The Rings mountain scenario and culminates in a Hillside Singers-style ’70s Coke commercial (which is sort of like a movie).

The song itself is classic Brit-rock. Soft sentimental verses lead into anthemic choruses, which in turn erupt into thumping minor-chord bridges with off-kilter tempos and searing, reverbed guitar solos. Think Snow Patrol + Oasis / U2, only topless, ripped, and sprinting through a busy intersection. Got it? Good. Now watch.

Gavin's New Video Premieres!

Gavin's new video for "Forever May You Run" premiered today on AOL's Popeater.

Rossdale 'Runs' for His Life in New Video

Steve Baltin, PopEater

In his new video, 'Forever May You Run,' former Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale -- and husband of Gwen Stefani -- dressed all in white, makes a run from his office job and institutional life through city streets, stripping along the way. Rossdale wasn't a fan of the outift originally. "White? Why can't it be black?," he tells PopEater of his original response to the attire.
But the director, Jesse Davey, changed his mind. "I kind of worked for him as an actor for a minute and [was] so impressed with him," Rossdale says. "I don't think I would've worn white for anyone else. I'm always about trying to move videos forward."
He didn't have to look too far for inspiration based on some of his favorite videos. "R.E.M. 'Everybody Hurts' -- that's a classic," he says. "And Gwen's got some great videos." That's a smart husband.

Gavin Rossdale Ready To Rock, With Or Without Bush

Gavin Rossdale Ready To Rock, With Or Without Bush

As his first solo album, “WANDERlust,” takes flight thanks to the hit singles “Love Remains the Same” and “Forever You May Run,” Gavin Rossdale is already plotting his next recording project.

“I’m sort of halfway through writing a bunch of new songs,” Rossdale tells Billboard.com. “If it’s a Bush record, that’s great, and if it’s a Gavin Rossdale record, that’s great. We’ll have to see what happens.”

Rossdale says that he’s got “about six or seven new songs” ready, and they hew closer to Bush’s brand of hard rock than the more melodic and pop-flavored fare of “WANDERlust.” “They’re focused on…what I’m needing to do and what would add to where I’m at now. It’s pretty driving as opposed to mid-tempoey and that type of stuff. I’m excited about doing a record that challenges me like that.”

Rossdale says the new material could turn into the first Bush album since 2001’s “Garden State” — “I’m naturally a band person, so that would always be my choice,” he notes — but that depends on guitarist Nigel Pulsford, who Rossdale says backed out of an band album that was planned after the frontman launched another group, Institute, in 2005. “(Pulsford) just decided he didn’t want to leave his family,” Rossdale recalls. “He wanted to make the record, but he didn’t want to leave his family. So the solo record was by default.” Rossdale says he and Pulsford are “super-friendly” and that he’s still open to the idea of a new Bush album.

“I suppose, potentially, yeah, it could happen,” Rossdale says. “But if [Pulsford]’s not going to tour it, I don’t know. We’ll see. It’s all up in the air.”

Rossdale says that in either event he plans to again work with “WANDERlust” producer Bob Rock, who he says “understands me. He understands what I do.” Meanwhile, there’s still life left in WANDERlust;” Rossdale is on the road in North America until June 7 and hopes to return to Europe to continue promoting the album. He’s also anticipating picking up some child care duties while wife Gwen Stefani rolls out on the No Doubt reunion tour.

“I think they’ll have a great time,” Rossdale notes. “Those guys have been super-patient while (Stefani)’s been doing her solo thing, so they’re just going to really enjoy it, I think. It takes a lot of pressure off, and it gets them all inspired if they want to make another record.”

Rossdale’s reps have also denied, again, that he had an affair with British pop star Marilyn during the early ’80s. Marilyn told In Touch magazine that Rossdale was “the love of my life” and that he had long lied about the relationship, which was first exposed in Boy George’s 1995 memoir “Take It Like a Man.” A spokesman said Rossdale stood by a denial he made years ago and did not make any new statements about Marilyn.

Fan concert report-Gavin Rossdale Rochester, NY Water Street Music Hall

Heather's concert report (which includes a conversation with Gavin and Kingston): (hehe)

I saw Gavin in Rochetser, NY last night. The show was really amazing. He played tons of bush, most of his solo album, some institute, and a cover of fleetwood mac's landslide. I was right up in front, great view. I have pics and vid, i'll upload them soon. it was his keyboard player jason's birthday, so the crowd sang happy birthday, that was cute. Some of you may remember that i met him back in december when he did a radio interview here. i was hoping that he'd remember me... during the show he locked eyes with me twice, and it was sort of a "i know this girl" look... haha. Kingston and his nanny were there, he was crawling and walking around the side of the stage the whole time. he had a flashlight. what a cutie. no pics of him though, i just don't think that's right. everyone was taking mad pics of him, and that's just kind of sad to me. anyways...

after the show we waited by the back door by his tour bus, there was a crowd of like... 20ish people waiting. we were the first people to get there. i was walking past the tour bus and little King just popped his cutie little head out one of the windows and waved at me. I waved back and blew him a kiss. He blew me a kiss back, and then said "where's mommy?" hahaha. it was so cute! i waved goodbye and he waved back. he is so super adorable. seriously.

so gavin finally came out after like 30 minutes to sign autographs and take pics. he looked right at me, smiled, and sort of laughed. i smiled and said "do you remember me?" he said "of course i do! how've you been?" he gave me a hug and we chatted about the awesome show, i said it was so great of him to come back to rochester. he signed one of my cd booklets, and we took a picture. before the pic he said "hey, nice shirt." i was wearing a LAMB shirt. i laughed and said something like "i've gotta represent!" he laughed and said "well it's a family business so we need all the support we can get." hahaha. anyways, after the pic i asked him about Gwen's mothers day card. I was really chill about it, and said if there's no way he can help it's cool, but i'd love to get the card to Gwen. He was really great about it and said he thought she'd really like that. we talked for a few minutes about what we could do, and he asked for my cell and email so that they could get a hold of me. then his tour manager said he had to move on, so gavin told me to write all the info down. we stepped aside and i wrote a note on the back of a flyer, and just waited until most of the crowd was gone. when he was finished signing i went over and gave him the info. he was really cool about it, and said not to worry about my contact info being used except for the card purposes, and said he really will try to work out a way for us to all meet up this weekend. he gave it to his tour manager, and the tour manager said that they'll try their best, but can't promise anything just because bamboozle is so huge. worse comes to worse, he said give it to the merch guys.

it was a really great evening.

Gavin Rossdale Interview on Virgin Radio Vancouver

Posted by buzz in interviews, virgin radio

Gavin Rossdale was the British face of grunge rock in the mid90s. His band Bush, however, wasnt very popular in the UK - most of their success came State side.

In 2002 he married Gwen Stefani of No Doubt, and while Gwen’s music career has taken off both solo and with the band, Gavin has done more acting than singing until the release of a solo effort last year that brought him back to the top 40 for the first time in nearly 15 years with Love Remains The Same.

Tonight is the third night of a 2 month continental swing, he’s in town for show a the Red Robinson Show Theatre in Coquitlam

LiveDaily Interview: Gavin Rossdale

By Christina Fuoco-Karasinski / LiveDaily Contributor

It would be an understatement to say that former Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale was looking forward to embarking on his current solo tour.

"I've got my running shoes on and I'm in the starting block," Rossdale said last week during an interview with LiveDaily prior to the tour Tuesday night (4/14). "We've been waiting patiently to go back out on tour. I've

been dying to get back out there and live the life on the road and do what I love to do."
Rossdale released his solo debut, "Wanderlust," in June of last year. Since then, it has been a slow climb for him, which is something he said he prefers. The first single, "Love Remains the Same," entered The Billboard Hot 100 chart at No. 76, rising to No. 27 in October 2008, giving Rossdale his first Top 40 hit since the days when he led Bush.

Calling from the Los Angeles home he shares with wife Gwen Stefani and sons Zuma and Kingston, Rossdale spoke to LiveDaily about the tour, the success of "Love Remains the Same" and his penchant for tennis and reading.

LiveDaily: Is this tour your first full one in support of "Wanderlust'?

Gavin Rossdale: Yeah, I've done lots of shows. They've been one-off, two or three shows here and there. But nothing as constant as I'm born to do. I think this is the first leg and just kind of testing the water, getting out there and getting back in front of people. That's it.

After being in Bush and Institute, why was now the time for a solo album?

I wanted it to be a Bush record. Then it wasn't gonna be a Bush record. I wanted to keep working. I didn't think that Institute was the right move. It seemed too difficult to set up a whole new band. If I'm going to start [a new thing], at least my name has some recognition. So, I did that. But, really, it was just out of just survivalism.

Were you surprised at the success of "Love Remains the Same"?

Yeah. Blown away, really. It's been a huge song for me. What is really amazing is the next one ["Forever May You Run"] is setting up in the same way. It's a slow road but it's pretty incredible. I think it's the way that it can go now. You go at a certain speed. If you don't have the big record or the first-week stuff, you go this other route, which is this thing of people discovering the music and having an organic feel to it--in a way that allows people to own it themselves and not have it forced on them by the huge marketing and all that kind of stuff. The music is being played and being picked up on and every day people are coming up to me and kind of telling me how they're being affected by the record and what it's doing to them. It's on a really interesting modern journey.

It's a beautiful song and the video is great for it. It seems like it would have been a lot of fun to do.

Yeah, it was great. I did it with Sophie Mueller and she is actually staying at our house right now. I've known her for such a long time, never worked with her and I always wanted to, so we were lucky to get the chance. I asked her to do it and she goes, "Yeah. Let's shoot it at your house." We shot a lot of it at my house and a couple of other little locations. But just a day's shoot, you know. Yeah, it was good fun.

How did you choose the name "Wanderlust" for your album?

[I chose it] because I really missed touring. That's what it's really about. I felt that the "wanderlust" for me was just about this desire to get back out and play and be in front of audiences. I love the studio a lot, but I also liked being on the road and taking that on. It's like a different beast. I'm looking forward to it. I get to play a selection of stuff from Bush, from Institute, my solo stuff, some covers. Whenever I want to change it, I can change it up pretty regularly. So there's, like, three or four sets we play. Keep it interesting for the fans. Different times and different periods in my musical madness journey.

It sounds like it's going to be a great show.

Thank you. I hope so. I want to keep it super dynamic. It's such a hard time [economically right now] that it's forcing everyone on every level to re-evaluate what they do and take nothing for granted. So when people pay their good money to see me, I better give them a great show, a good dynamic.

Are you looking forward to playing clubs again?

Well, yeah, of course. There's theaters, there's some clubs, some big gigs, sort of festival-style things. It's interesting to get the range of it. I did a lot of clubs with Institute. Being a rock musician, it's obviously where we come from. There's some excitement to it. There's excitement that you get in a club. It's crammed, it's steaming, people going crazy. It's pretty infectious. I'm looking forward to those shows when people get lost in them.

Are you going to be on tour the same time as your wife?

I think so, yeah.

That must be kind of tough.

Well, I think so. Tough or really convenient. I think it could work out really well. But she's doing what she's got to do, and me as well.

What was it like to work on "Wanderlust" with producer Bob Rock?

It was amazing. I love the guy. He was totally supportive and really inspiring. I got to work with him where he lived in Hawaii. It was just brilliant. I mean, everything you'd want out of making a record is what I got with him. He was just really good fun. A great engineer out there. I ate at the same restaurant every night for, like, a month. It was cool. I really liked it. I really had a good time. I've already [told] him I want to do another record with him. I 100% want to work with him again.

Have you started writing new material yet?

Yeah. I have a few new songs that I'm digging. I'm thinking about them in respect to what I've done with the last record. It's kind of cool. It all kind of goes together. I've got a pretty good idea of what I want to do. I'm kind of in the middle of that. When I'm on the road and living that crazy existence, I can kind of work on it myself--and try to use the time really productively.

What aspects of Bush and Institute do you feel you were able to carry over into your solo career?

I'm always hoping that you keep the excitement and the emotional aspects. There's so much power in ... vulnerability and putting it all out there--leaving it on the line and sort of just taking high dives into whatever you do and having the passion to really create something extraordinary. Be the best you can be. I'm trying to do that.

I read you're a very avid tennis player.

I play tennis in the mornings. I think it's really good to go and do something, have a passion, to keep you grounded and not sort of self-obsessed about what you're doing. I get lost in reading. I read a lot of books. I get out there and I do physical exercise and mental exercise.

What was the last good book you read?

I just finished a book called "Crank," which is about growing up on methamphetamines, which is a phenomenal memoir. Malcolm Gladwell, "Outliers [The Story of Success]"--that was a phenomenal read. There's a great book I just read, Gillian Flynn's "Sharp Objects." Have you heard of it? It's fantastic. That was last week and that was a great, crazy thriller. Something I never read. I didn't want to put it down. Stuff like that. I get into all different things. Some non-fiction, fiction, just move it all around. I fall in love with books. I read them all the time.
